Biographical Info
John Cropp is an Access Services Associate at UConn Library’s Homer Babbidge Library in Storrs, Connecticut. In that role, he heads up visitor services initiatives designed to engage and welcome non-student members of the university community to the library. Additionally, he manages room reservations and chairs a committee charged with making library spaces more accessible and useful for students, faculty, and staff.
After working for twenty years in customer service leadership roles, John was welcomed into academic libraries with an Evening Supervisor position at the University of Georgia’s Main Library. He completed his bachelor's degree at UGA and his Master of Library and Information Sciences at Valdosta State University.
John returned to his home state of Connecticut and has served in several roles at UConn Library including interim Head of Access Services from 2022 to 2023 and Education Subject Specialist since 2023. Additionally, John is a part-time Librarian at Mansfield Public Library where he can be found hosting author events and leading storytime sing-alongs.
He would like you to know that UConn deserves as much recognition for its amazing ice cream as it does for its championship winning basketball.
